A Plunge Into The Ocean of Divinity

The material things of the world crush the powers of the senses and reduce their radiance. It is proven fact that worldly enjoyments are ephemeral in nature. The thirst for human desires can never be quenched. No matter how much glory a man begets, he can never possess real happiness and peace of mind. The fire of desire burns incessantly and man perpetually gets scorched in its wild flames.

In this world, wealth can satisfy none. No amount of wealth ever seems adequate. Passion and anger can still be bound within limits, but greed is limitless.  While lust and anger become evident in the countenance, greed remains concealed. Lust distorts the human mind, anger makes man go berserk and become averse to rationality, but greed deteriorates him from the core of his being.

The treasure of Divinity lies amidst innumerable allurements. The tree in the garden of life is laden with fruits of passion, anger and greed. They lure man and entangle him with myriad tentacles. Man loses his path and gets completely carried away. But these allurements are simply like baits meant to trap a person and make him pay heavy costs. The costs are numerous. Attachment brings sorrow, physical indulgence brings disrepute, wealth brings with it losses and happiness also brings sorrow. There is a price for everything that we desire to attain.

So, if God has to be realized, one has to surrender himself completely. The pearls can only be obtained from the ocean if one is prepared to take the plunge. Mira in her sacred verses has explained that it is only love and absolute submission that can make God-realization possible. If one is prepared to relinquish his ego, his false “I”, then he can easily be one with God. Kabir has gone a step further to say ‘When’ ‘I’ (ego) was there He (God) was in oblivion, and now when He (God) is there, I am nowhere existent’. When the ‘ego’ disappears and the heart is completely purified, God Himself finds manifestation.

On the contrary a Saint remains oblivious of worries. Nothing in the world can move him. He is detached from all. Taking the name of God, he crosses the ocean of life. A saint is never bound by the shackles of illusion. Worldly attachments fetter man till the last breath but a day must come when all the bondages are unbound. The world has to be properly lived and then renounced.

Old age and death are inevitable. The world will continue to be as it is. Nothing will affect its proceedings. Whether someone comes or goes, it will make no difference to the world. So live a life of wisdom. Plunge in the ocean of Spiritual bliss. If you leave the world as an enlightened being, the journey for you will be joyous or else it is bound to cause agony.
